Come learn the ancient art of Blacksmithing!
Half Day experence
While the days primary function is to learn beginner blacksmithing techniques, you will also learn a great deal about the ancient process of knife making. For 1000’s of years the creation of knives were believed to be shrouded in myth and magic.’
As you go through the process you learn why our forge needs to burn at near 1000c, and how we make the steel move how we want it to.
And the best bit is, even if you forget all that you learnt, the prettiest, classiest will have been made by you, and will be showed off for years to come!
-
You’ll take a blank of steel that has been prepped ready for you and pop it into our 1000c forge. When it’s nice and hot, you’ll hit the steel with a hammer (forging), drawing out the tang till its long enough to shape. Then forge the blade length and bevels to shape.
-
Then it’s to the grinder to finish the bevel shape off.
Then we do some wire wheeling to bring out the natural steel lustre.
-
Then it’s time for the photo shoot and to let the world know via social media how awesome you really are.
